Five Haunted Attractions in New Jersey

New Jersey is a state with a long and dark history, full of murder, mayhem and mystery. It’s no wonder that there are many haunted places and attractions that can scare even the bravest souls. Whether you’re looking for a haunted house, a haunted hayride, a haunted trail or a zombie hunt, there’s something for everyone in the Garden State. Here are five prominent haunted attractions in New Jersey that you should visit this Halloween season…if you dare.

5. Haunted Red Mill

The Haunted Red Mill is a historic landmark in Clinton, dating back to 1810. It was once a thriving industrial complex, producing wool, flour, and other products. But it also has a dark side, as many workers died in accidents or committed suicide on the premises. Some of the spirits that are said to haunt the mill are a young girl who fell into the mill race, a man who hanged himself in the attic, and a woman who was murdered by her husband. The Haunted Red Mill offers a terrifying tour of the mill and its grounds, where you’ll encounter live actors, animatronics, and special effects. You’ll also experience a haunted hayride and a maze of terror.

1. Brighton Asylum

Brighton Asylum is one of the most famous and frightening haunted attractions in New Jersey. It is located in Passaic, in an old warehouse that was once a mental asylum. The asylum was shut down in 1952 after reports of brutal experiments and abuse on the patients. But some say that the spirits of the tortured souls still linger in the building. Brighton Asylum offers two haunted houses that will make your blood run cold: Brighton Asylum, where you’ll explore the dark corridors and rooms of the asylum; and The Tunnel, where you’ll venture into the underground tunnel system that connects the asylum to other buildings. Brighton Asylum also features escape rooms and virtual reality experiences for those who want more thrills.
